Student Work: 2nd Grade says "The Very Lonely Firefly" is not Lonely Anymore!

I am way behind on my posting of student work. Which is a shame because I feel like my students have been producing some excellent work that is very worth sharing! So I am going to try to rapid fire post some of these exemplary projects that my students have been working so hard on, going all the way back to the beginning of the semester.

Second grade studied some basic color theory at the beginning of this semester. We then looked at illustrations and artwork by the oh so wonderful, Eric Carle. The book we focused on was The Very Lonely Firefly. They were able to locate his use of primary and secondary colors, tints and shades, as well as warm and cool colors. We got a little messy to make finger-painted paper to use in a final collage, just like Mr. Carle did in his books.
In the end we had some fiery friends for the lonely firefly!

...stay tuned for some more student work soon!
