This one I liked because some how this student's germ ended up looking very much like her family's pet dog.
hah :)
The fourth grade expedition for the fall was Recycling and Paper-making. A lot of their time with their guide teacher was spent experimenting with how hand-make paper from recycled paper. The results were amazing. We made greeting cards from some of them. Maybe if you're lucky you'll get one in the mail.
These collages were a side-project, made out of all recycled materials and based on the theme of Manaboa (the area outside of Jarabacoa where the students go camping for outdoor education week)
The fifth grade expedition was on endangered birds that are local to the DR, specifically those in whose habitat is around coffee plants. They did some really great research and fieldwork (bird-watching and more!) and in art class they each did a detailed drawing of the bird they were researching.
The high school art elective class focused on portraiture this semester. Their final project was a self-portrait using a material of their choice and a descriptive artist statement. Here are a few of the finals...
"Dreamer"

"Sassy"

"Cali"
