he makes things, too!

I want to boast about my husband for a minute. In his spare time he likes to dream up creations for our household and then build them. Sometimes I like to give him nudges and ideas for those dreams based on what I think would fit nicely into our abode, but often he stirs up his own visions. I often give him lip about the time it takes for the vision to come to fruition, but he always pulls out a creation in the end that was well worth the wait.

Since moving into our apartment he had been dreaming up this lil' guy, and more recently built it...

It is a little cutting table for our kitchen that also serves to house some of our pans that do not fit so comfortably in our cabinet space. It tucks very nicely under our window and even has a towel holder on the left side. All we need is to pot some cooking herbs to hang in the window and we'll be set!
The hubs says this is his favorite thing he has build so far. I, on the other hand, am still quite impressed with the bed he built for us.

Carpentry is one of the many things he has picked up from his father. Daily I see things in el esposo that make me think he is turning into a strange combination of both his father and my father. Ay Dios...and I do not know how to handle that. I guess as long as he keeps creating furniture for our home and dreaming up new visions for our lives then I will manage to cope :)

for Bernadine

I really love sky gazing. If you were to categorize all the photos on my hard-drive that I have taken the odds are at least 50% of them are of the sky. This means two things-- I often forget to take pictures of people or events, and secondly, I am constantly in awe of the Great Artist and how He can make the sky new every single day. Sunrise, sunset, mid-day, cloudy, sunny, you name it I love it. He paints a new magnificently unique canvas not only every day, but in every place every day. Now that is a down-right spectacular feat.

In my catalog of sky photos, I have recently add a lot from the south facing windows of our apartment that look out on the mountains. The sun rises at the corner of our view and breaks into our window every morning. Last Thursday was the day of my grandmother's funeral. Unfortunately I was unable to be in Kansas with my family for the ceremonies, but God woke me with this reminder that He is present and glorious in all places at all times.

My gracious sister held her iphone up during the whole service and even at the procession to the cemetery, so that I might witness "live" the ceremonies. It was one of the most surreal events of my life. To be present and absent simultaneously. My family was near to me in words and tears, but too far to embrace or commune with.

To honor my grandmother's passing, I decided to interpret God's painting into one of my own.

I am a only a humble sub-creator.
